Inspired by traditional football fan scarves, they subvert and reinvent their visual codes. Usually relying on notions of rivalry and competition, traditional sports scarves are here reinvented with a focus on team-spirit and solidarity.
Why ?
As both an iconic object and a symbol of collective identity, these scarves are part of the broader discourse of the exhibition, which explores the role of sport in society and its impact on dynamics of inclusion, belonging and exclusion.
